Do You Have a Checklist for Your Ideal Partner

? Advice Tear It Up!

Starting to look for a partner and going on a date for the first time can be pretty daunting, but what you must do is keep an open mind. Firstly there is no ideal or perfect partner,we all have minor faults or irritating habits that we don't see in ourselves and the person you are looking for will have them to.

To give yourself the best chance of success in the dating game suspend all yourpreconceived ideas about the man or woman you are looking for. If you want the exact height, weight, nationality, religion and from a certain country man or woman, then I'm afraid you are deluding yourself and your search is going to end in failure.

In our multicultural society there is a vast richness and diversity of people from all over the world, who hold the same values that you do and will bring a much wider global view to any relationship, which can only be a good thing for both of you.

So when looking for that 'Special Someone' don't let a bias get in the way of allowing many different types of people to come on the horizon. How do you know if you will like someone or not unless you talk to them and find out about their lives and culture?

If you like to travel what a perfect way to do this with a partner who has roots on the other side of the world or family they visit frequently. So be open and the partner you are looking for will appear either from your country or from another you know nothing about, thats the fantastic opportunity that online dating has given us.

On a personal note to illustrate the point I am making, in the 1990s I saw a television program about Colombia and the terrible problems they were having with the drug cartels.I vowed to myself that I would never visit that country in a million years.

In 2006 I married my wife Lucia from Bogota, Colombia and I visited the country, spending six weeks there visiting Lucia's Mother, her relations and friends, and found the Colombian people to be amongst the warmest hospitable people on earth.I felt as safe and secure in Colombia as I do in London! (and guess what? we met online)

To repeat what I said at the start keep an open mind or you just might miss meeting your "Soul Mate'
