. With the ease, convenience, and mobility that cellular phones offer its customers, it is no wonder that many have opted to cancel their landline accounts in favor of their mobile phones. When each person per household has their own cellular phone, having a family landline often proves unnecessary. Just as cell phones have overtaken traditional phone lines, many are wondering in the 4G wireless internet technology will similarly take over traditional broadband as the dominant form of internet service.

The freedom and convenience offered by the mobile forms of this technology makes it much more attractive than the traditional forms that require you to be tied down physically to a location. Thus, with improvements in the wireless internet technology from the 3G network, many are wondering if in the near future, it will become the dominant form of internet service. The 3G wireless was created primarily for smart phone usage; thus, its speeds are relatively slow in comparison to traditional broadband. You can check your emails and conduct other basic functions on this wireless internet; however, you will not be able to do everything you do on your home computer. The improvements in mobile internet technology has resulted in the 4G wireless network, which is geared towards mobile computer usage. Consequently, its data transfer speeds are much faster, enabling its users to do virtually anything they would do using their desktops at home. Even while they are on the go, they can download large files for work, they can pass they time with an online game, they can watch a streaming video of their favorite show, or they can even catch up with a distant loved one using video chat.

The 4G wireless internet is comparable in speed to traditional broadband internet, operating at a speed of 4-6 Mbps. Thus, while you are on the road or at the park, you can be using an internet connection that is similar to the cable or DSL internet that you enjoy at school, home, or the office. With such comparable quality in internet connection, it is no wonder that many are wondering if it has the potential to overtake these traditional providers of internet services. While some believe that it can, it will definitely take a few years before any households begin to even think about canceling their DSL services in favor of the 4G wireless internet. Even though many large cities, including Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Portland, are currently enjoying a mobile high speed internet connection, many other cities such as New York City and San Francisco, have yet to be wired with this same technology. Thus, while the 4G wireless has potential to be a competitor for traditional broadband internet, it currently lacks the reputation and market to have such a competing power. Moreover, for the most avid computer users, they will still want to continue to rely on traditional broadband because it offers them much more power and bandwidth; however, for the purposes of the internet for most people, the 4G wireless network will more than suffice.
