Does Hypnosis Really Work or is it Fake?

When people think of hypnosis, oftentimes they have images of making people cluck like chickens or doing something stupid

. Many people do not realized that there is real science behind what hypnosis actually does to the brain. Hypnosis can be very powerful and do more than make for good entertainment.

Cornell University's medical school performed a study on hypnosis and the reactions of the brain. At this time, it is still unclear which areas of the brain hypnosis actually affects; however, the overwhelming conclusion was that it did affect the brain. In Cornell's study they hypnotized 16 healthy adults and determined that while they were hypnotized, some brain functionality was lowered allowing the ability for them to accept suggestions as facts.

Imagine someone that is afraid of snakes gets hypnotized to appreciate and like snakes. According to Cornell's study, these people would, through the power of suggestion, learn to no longer be fearful of snakes.

According to research at Harvard University Medical School, people that meditate or perform relaxed visualization had increased functionality in their brains.The people in Harvard's study showed increased memory and sensory perception. It proved that, when given the opportunity, parts of the brain can actually grow and improve. This can have a huge impact on memory loss for the elderly and children with attention deficit issues.

There is scientific proof that hypnosis is real and that it can be quite beneficial to everybody. The brain is an interesting and powerful organ that science has yet to fully understand.
