I am here to bust some big preconceptions about
catalog printing. Do you think that bigger color catalogs are better than smaller ones? Is bigger really better in
catalog printing, or is there more to a catalog than its size? Well, let me clarify all the facts for you so that you can decide for yourself. How big catalogs work When you really think about it, there is something to that initial assumption that bigger is better. If you take a look at big color catalogs you will probably will just be impressed right of the bat. Big full color images of products, a model for effect and of course the impressive dimensions of big catalogs all speak immensity and respect. This more or less happens because big stuff is always something that will capture peoples attention. We are all hard wired psychologically to respect something big since it might be advantageous to us. That is why big catalogs work. It demands respect, and we see something that is good for us in them at the same time. This makes the big catalog a very effective tool in sales. Why smaller catalogs are good Now, big catalogs aside, let me tell you how smaller catalogs work. While small color catalogs cannot compete with big catalogs in terms of impact, they compensate for this by their cheapness, prevalence and easy of distribution. While not everyone will be awed by small catalogs, you can be sure that almost everyone can actually get copy of it to look at. Besides being able to print a lot more small catalogs cheaply, they should also be small enough to be distributed by mail, or even by hand. You can easily flood communities and public areas with small catalogs for great effect. It should be easy to get that message out to everyone since it is very easy to give away and accept a small catalog than an unwieldy big one. The most ideal situation So the final question becomes, when should I use big catalog printing and small catalog printing? Well, the most ideal situation depends on your goals. If exposure to everyone is your goal then smaller and cheaper catalogs are best. If you are just starting out in business, I would recommend the smaller ones. However, if you want to gain attention and maybe even beat some rivals in business then you might want to try big catalogs to get your message to people better. It is a simple as that. So does size matter in catalog printing? Of course it does! Big catalogs or small catalogs they might be, but each has a specific advantage that can be exploited for certain goals. So try to use any of the two if the opportunity presents itself.
