Does Your Day Care Center Know The Latest Medical Information?
In order to protect children from a myriad of illnesses
, day care centers must be up-to-date on all of the latest medical information and supplies available. This includes CPR and basic first aid training, which can potentially save the life of an injured child. They should also know the current immunization requirements. Thankfully, the state of Nevada regulates most of these requirements.
Licensed by the State of Nevada
Parents whose children are enrolled in a day care center licensed by the state of Nevada can rest assured. Nevada has very stringent requirements including training for CPR, first aid, SIDS, and signs of other illnesses. As a result, workers in licensed day care centers are trained to respond to emergencies. This means that parents can rest assured that this training is as up-to-date possible.
CPR
The fact is minutes count, and waiting for help may not be an option. Day care centers must be able to provide CPR, and they must understand the differences between CPR administered to adults versus children or infants. Furthermore, studies have indicated that children are three times more likely to live if they are given chest compressions - a modified form of CPR.
Knowing First Aid
Children are by nature inquisitive beings and can find themselves in situations that result in injuries. Usually these injuries are minor bumps and bruises, but sometimes they can be more life threatening. Even the minor ones can become serious if the right first aid is not administered. That is why it is critical that day care centers provide their staff members with basic first aid training.
The Right Medical Supplies
The right training will not do much good if the day care center does not stock the right medical supplies. Of course, access needs to be easy and the supplies need to be located in a known and centralized location. Some of the basic supplies are bandages, gauze, dressing, tweezers, liquid soap, ice packs, and disposable vinyl gloves. The last is important to avoid allergies to latex gloves.
Immunizations
Day care centers must be up-to-date on what immunizations are required by law in the state of Nevada. This is not just about the day care being compliant, but it is in the best interest of all of the children and staff. After all, immunizations protect the child against potentially life-threatening illnesses, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, rubella and rubeola.
Parents must know that their children are safe in the hands of a day care center.
