And about fifty percent of these offenses came from residents who went against the weekly work limit of 80 hours.

The same board also allowed an extension of working hours of up to 88 per week for 75 surgical programs. Until now, handfuls of resident doctors have filed lawsuits on labor hour violations, yet eleven of them lacked evidence and thus have been dismissed. The organization called the American medical student association strongly believes that most violations are not being documented for the resident's fear that it will destroy their program's accreditation.

According to the association, plenty among the medical students primarily those who feel thet are not qualified yet for residency demands cover more hours of work than the rest. Newfound results from a survey conducted among 500 students of medicine strengthened the fact that 50 percent of them were made to work on clerical duties for the residents while the 25 percent were made to do clinical labor.
