Dog Obedience Training Makes Life Easier

Living with a rowdy unruly dog leads to a poor quality of life for the dog and the owner.

The fact is that a dog still has some of the wilderness in it from the time it roamed the world on its own as they still do in some parts of Australia.

Though they have been domesticated for thousands of years there are still frequent incidents of dogs turning on people which is why it is important to choose the right breed for whatever purpose you have the animal.

As dogs are from the wild it is important to be aware of the fact that they are still pack animals and recognise a social hierarchy. The dog's owner must be at the top of that hierarchy or safety and security could be at risk.

It is a fault of many owners to pander to the whims of their pet which can lead to the animal trying to assert it own authority as this has evolutionary advantages and is an inbred behaviour.

The first part of obedience training is to make this known andthat no nonsense will be tolerated. In order for this to take place the dog must learn quickly to respond to voice commands from more than one person in a family situation.

As dogs are very agile and are prone to curiosity they will chase anything and need to learn commands that will stop them in their tracks before anything untoward occurs such as chasing cats onto a road or running up to people.

A leash is very useful in the early stages of dog obedience training though it must be used with care and jerking it is not a good idea.

When the dog knows its place in the pack it is happy as it knows where it stands and knows that it will be looked after and fed.

Once the animal responds to your commands after using techniques that produce results a mutal respect is born and the dog is waiting to hear from the owner in order to perform tasks and so obeying words or noises it has learnt that mean something.

Some of the commands my be mere movements of the hand or head . In the learning period one of the props used to enhance good behaviour is the use of treats which the dog

looks forward to when behaving correctly.

These must be given in the training process and intermittently thereafter as the dog will have become familiar with a command and won;t easily forget after having gone over it

plenty of times until perfection is arrived at.

It has been said that dogs are the next most intelligent creatures on the planet. They are very helpful in many ways and can be trained to do a large variety of very useful tasks. A couple of examples are dogs that can be taught to sniff out anything they have learnt and and dogs that lead the blind.

An intelligent reponsive pet is a joy to be with as a rapport becomes evident between owner and animal thus making for an easier life brought about through obedience,
