Dog Training Commands For Basic Obedience

A lot of new dog owners understand how important it is for them to teach their puppy

and dog certain commands and train them so that they will behave properly, but many of them aren't sure which dog commands are the most important.

Well, here are a list of 5 dog training commands that a lot of dog trainers believe will help provide your dog with basic obedience training and guide your dog to get along happily with you and the rest of the world.

1. Come - A crucial command your dog needs to learn first is come. You will usually combine the command with your dog's name, and you will use it often to get your dog to come back to you if they get off their leash or if they are running about the park and causing trouble.

2. Sit - This dog training command is handy and is very helpful, especially if you want to keep your dog in check while you are getting his or her food ready. Dogs that know the command "sit" will be easier to take care of and you won't have to deal with issues like jumping on people, fighting, or running after animals.

3. Stay - This command is used a lot with "sit" and "down" and will help you to keep your puppy from getting into danger when they are trying to go somewhere that could be harmful to them, like the road. This command can be hard for some dogs because they may listen to their animal instinct and curiosity instead of listening to what you are saying.

4. Wait - This isn't the same as "stay" because you will use the command "wait" to get your dog to stop doing what he or she is doing and wait until you tell them what you want them to do next. This command is used on dogs that like to run out the door or pull on their leash.

5. Down - When you tell your dog "down" he or she will lay all the way down so that their under belly touches the ground. This is a very important command for your dog to learn. Also, if you are having them stay where they are for more than a couple of minutes, the down position is more comfortable for your dog to be in.
