Increasingly lower cut-in speeds to create power at lower wind velocities - As much of the science revolving around wind energy is focused on R&D efforts to reduce the weight and improve the performance of the rotor blade systems, this is an area that will be seeing much improvement in over the coming years. Composite materials relating to a lot more lightweight blades and other components of the wind system will also be seen.

The cut-in speed, or the speed of the wind at which power can start to be made, is an area that is ripe for improvement.
