Download movie Grown Ups Online | Gay comedy about classmates
Grown Ups' cast reads like a comedy wet dream/SNL reunion of the late 1990splus Kevin James, who gets the fat guy physical role of the late Chris Farley. Despite abysmal trailers, Grown Ups held a glimmer of hope, at least in this reviewer's case, in that its all-star cast could at least cull a few good laughs. To be fair, the film accomplishes just that, at least a few good laughs, but little more.

Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler), Eric Lamonsoff (James), Kurt McKenzie (Chris Rock), Marcus Higgins (David Spade) and Rob Hilliard (Rob Schneider) were elementary school friends. We know this because the movie opens with a scene in which they are all on the same basketball team, winning what may be the school's only championship in basketball with a shot by Feder at the buzzer. As happens in life, however, the group splits apart as everyone grows up and heads down separate paths.
Feder becomes a big Hollywood agent, married to the stunning Roxanne Chase-Feder (Salma Hayek). Hayek's character is a fashion designer, preparing for a trip to Milan. They own fancy things, have a maid, and their children are spoiled rotten as a result. Lamonsoff is involved in a business of sorts, but that plays into a reveal later in the movie. The main thing to know about him is that his wife, Sally (Maria Bello), is still breastfeeding one of their children, who is 2 years old.
McKenzie is a stay-at-home dad, who takes nothing but abuse from his wife (Maya Rudolph), mother-in-law and children. Hilliard is married to a woman likely twice his age, if for no other reason than to disgust his friends when the two flirt in their own weird way. And Higgins is the one from the group who hasn't found a wife, still parties like he's in college and generally becomes the butt of many jokes.
The group is reunited when their former basketball coach dies. This leads to some inappropriate funeral behavior and the group renting a cabin for the weekend to get back in touch with one another. The group also runs into the team they beat in the championship game. They all apparently still live in the area, because, well, the movie needed some sort of plot point to bookend the nonsense in between. The one-time losers challenge the group to a rematch, which, if nothing else gives viewers the eye candy of Hayek and Bello in cheerleading outfits.
Everything in between is a mish-mash of characters riffing on one another, with no real plot to hold any of it together. None of the comedy spawns naturally. Rather Grown Ups seems as if it was written to give Chris Rock a minute to make some racial jokes, then a minute for Kevin James to hurt himself doing something physical and crack another self-deprecating fat joke before moving onto Schneider, who says obnoxious and gross things before getting physically abused by his peers. Spade continues to act like a goofy middle-aged drunk, for the most part, while Sandler's main gimmick seems to be avoiding his friends making comments about how rich and successful he is, and trying to convince everyone that his maid is a foreign exchange student. It is a cycle of characters riffing on one another, and little more.
In addition to this, each of the characters has some sort of issue to work out while at the cabin. McKenzie has to stand up for himself and show his mother-in-law that he's a worthwhile husband for her daughter. Lamonsoff must stop the over-aged breast-feeding and come clean about his job situation. Hilliard has to get comfortable with his latest wife and protect his beautiful daughters, while Spade has to prove that he's got at least a little more dignity than the average frat boy. And Sandler has to make his kids appreciate what they've got, and generally just live with being so successful.
But no one should care about the characters. Their problems come in just long and randomly enough to be solved, so that Grown Ups has some semblance of what we know as a feature-length film. But it's mostly just a series of jokes that work really, really hard for a laugh. Occasionally, Grown Ups finds one, so as a comedy it's not a complete loss. But Rock lacks any true bite. Schneider is Schneider, for better or worsemostly worse. And Kevin James gets hurt a bit, and none of it is too funny. Spade is the only one who finds some honest laughs, while Sandler is simply inoffensive.
