Driving Days In Britain

The UK has a proud history of motoring, and the people of this country are absolutely and resolutely car crazy

. Top Gear is one of the countrys most watched programs, and is believed to be one of the most widely watched programme in the world, being broadcast in over 117 countries.

Since the relaunch of the television programme in 2002, the show has adopted a more friendly and watchable format. Along with the popular Christmas Specials, regular features such as Star in a Reasonably Priced Car and Power Laps, as well as the now retired Cool Wall.

Beyond some of the more light-hearted presenter challenges and celebrity interviews; Top Gear also broadcasts test drives of some of the most desirable cars in existence, but sadly, most of the programme viewers will never get the chance to own one of the machines Jeremy Clarkson and co nonchalantly thrash around the Top Gear track. But there are ways for the wannabe racers of this country to live their dreams without breaking the bank.

In recent times, many companies have started to offer driving days to the public.The UK is teaming with racing circuits, both historic and modern, giving the opportunity to race supercars around the track at breakneck speeds. Now you can race Lambourghinis, Ferraris and Porsches for hours at a time, all for affordable prices.

Each circuit is unique, and has a distinct style. No two corners are the same, and each circuit brings a new challenge. Like the Top Gear track, some are converted airfields, such as the Wiltshire based Colerne race circuit and Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire.

Silverstone and Brands Hatch are brimming with history, and offer one of the most challenging experiences, not just in the UK, but worldwide. But others have been purpose built for beginners, with wide corners and huge straights. This is so the driver can experience the high octane thrill of racing whilst remaining safe and with almost no risk of destroying a very expensive car.

Before you go for a driving day, you should always check out the options available. Some offer a multicar experience, giving you the opportunity to drive multiple supercars in one day. Or perhaps theres one model your particularly keen on. Theres rally cars, single seaters and you can even go for a tank driving day, or a JCB race if thats what takes your fancy. Wherever you are in Britain, your never to far away from a dream driving day.
