Driving With Pets

It's bad enough trying to organise a trip with the children and all their belongings, but if yu have to take your pets with you it puts added stress on an already taxing car journey.

If you are off on holiday, make sure that your pet has all the correct vaccinations and the place that you will stay allows pets, otherwise your holiday may suffer.

Take your pet out on a few short car journeys before you make the trip, as some pets really do not like the noise and vibrations of a car, and may be very nervous when travelling. This way you can get them used to shorter journeys so they are at least a little used to the noises by the time you travel.

Keep your animals contained in the car, as if they put their heads out of the window it may cause them to get dust and grit in their eyes, which in turn can result in a horrible infection. Keep the windows closed, or slightly open if the weather is hot, as the temperature n the car can soar quickly in the head, and if you are covered in fur its less than comfortable!

Cats should be put in a carry case where they can be comfortable yet restrained, as they are far more inquisitive than dogs and will try to clamber around you. This could cause a hazard especially if they get into the driving well, but if they are anywhere in the car they will cause you a distraction.
