Drying Wood Floors. How Do You Do It?

Timber floor floods can be difficult to restore simply because timber floors can cup and bow when they are wet

. Simply putting a fan on the surface of the wood floor would in some instances not be sufficient to restore the floor. This is why it may be important to use a tool called the injectidry.

This injectidry works by placing multiple suction plates on the wood floor, which vacuums the moisture off the wood floor. Typically you will place this on the timber floor for a period of 3-4 days or more. A dehumidifier installed in the middle of the room will take the moisture that has been put into the air enabling a faster dry down time.

Many wood floors these days are actually floating timber floors placed on top of concrete. The Injectidry system may only work in these instances some of the time. You need to analyse the composition of the timber and whether water is trapped underneath the floor and the concrete. This is because in many cases it is not possible to remove the moisture with the Injectidry.

In most cases this system may be suited for expensive timber floor installations. The injectidry may usually cost around $200 upwards per day to hire. This cost may be cost less than replacement. When conducting a cost benefit analysis it is important to consider the replacement expense and the cost of re sanding and sealing. It is important to note that the floors may need to be re-sanded even after using the inject dry.

Having said this, sometimes the floor will dry naturally but it is important to ensure you use the services of a certified water damage restoration professional to inspect the damage.
