3.VBA scripting. When you place new push buttons or other custom objects you should program their logic in VBA. This is very traditional scripting language and it was and still is popular in such Microsoft products as Excel or Word. Good example would be updating record in custom table via ADO

Lets now try to answer popular questions:

Q. It seems to be difficult in Dexterity to do cross-module programming. Is it something that is more natural in Modifier?

A. Yes, there is technology to switch dictionary and include Sanscript portions into VBA code. This is probably what you need. However we have seen that such customization is something that requires review in version update projects. Also there is no debugging functionality in such Sanscript inclusions

Q. We need new forms to be created. Are we talking about the right tool to do the job?

A. Probably not as there is Extender which is better positioned to create new screens. Of course it is possible to popup simple dialogues from VBA code but you probably need more traditional forms

Q. Is it possible to call Crystal Report with parameters from VBA?

Q. We would like modification to be done by our consulting firm. Do we in this case need Modifier license?

A. In your case you need just Customization Site Enabler

Q. We are on Great Plains 5.0 on Btrieve and we had complex customization in VBA with Sanscripts cross-module one where it works with GP and Intellisol Advanced Purchase Order Processing. Now finally we are planning to update to Dynamics GP 2010 but our reseller surprised us with the statement that Intellisol doesnt exist in this time. What are our options?

A. We need to know more details about your case and what custom logic is doing in Intellisol POP. Probably good direction is to review Dynamics GP core Purchase Order Processing module and remap from intellisol to the core POP
