Easy Yet Scrumptious Beer Chicken Recipe
Love grilling chicken but tired of the same old recipe
? Then you should try beer chicken. Crazy as it sounds, beer butt chicken is literally shoving a whole can of beer into the cavity of a chicken. Beer can chicken recipe was invented by a group of guys in Michigan while, of course, having fun drinking beer.
The first attempt of getting the beer flavor soaked into the meat of the chicken was not successful. But because of their creative and playful minds, they thought of opening a whole can of beer then let the chicken sit on it and then grill. As the temperature heats up, the beer boils up giving an equal spray from inside-out. End result, the chicken is crisp on the outside and oh-so juicy on the inside.
Since then, many have thought of their own recipe to share. Some added a little bit of this and that to make the taste more unique or some have adjusted the recipe according to their taste buds.
Here's a simple beer chicken recipe that you can try:
You Will Need
Griller
Foil
Beer can holder
ziplock
Charcoal
Ingredients
Whole fresh chicken
3 cans of beer
1 tbsp of Black and white ground pepper
2 tbsp of brown sugar
2 tbsp of chili and cayenne powder
1 tbsp of garlic and onion powder
1 tbsp iodized salt
1 tsp of dry mustard
1 tsp of dry thyme
Procedure
Wash your chicken thoroughly (if you'll be using frozen chicken make sure that it is completely thawed before grilling), then marinate your chicken in 2 cans of beer using a ziplock and let it soak for about 30 minutes to one hour. Marinating your chicken prior to grilling will make it juicier.
Mix all the dry ingredients. This will serve as the flavoring for your chicken.
Remove the chicken from its marinade and rub it completely with the mixed dry ingredients. Make sure that the skin is totally covered with dry-rub as well as its cavity.
Make sure that your griller has enough heat. Place a foil over the griller so the drippings won't go to waste. Drippings are exceptionally good and you can also use it to make gravy.
Open a can of beer and place it on the beer can holder and then place your chicken. Let it cook for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, or may be even more. The cooking time will depend on the size of the chicken. The smaller it is, the faster it will cook.
Try this recipe and see how the wonder of beer turns your ordinary chicken into a superbly gourmet bird. You don't need to be a chef to create one, just follow the recipe and be surprised yourself.
