While out on a motorcycle road trip eating at places along the way is one of the pluses of riding. This is a way to meet new people and try out great food. We aren't taking about fast food and franchises, we are taking about diners, mom and pop places, one of a kind places that have their specialties that you can't find anywhere else.

If you are on a road trip to Fairhope Alabama then be sure to stop in at Panini Pete's. Pete is a classically trained chef. He cooks up the pressed Italian style sandwiches called the Panini. Everything is homemade here. He cooks his own turkey, he fresh cuts his fries, he fresh cuts his chips, and he even makes his own mozzarella. The fresh mozzarella stacked with basil, tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette is delicious and is called the Italian caprese Panini. He goes the extra effort on everything. For breakfast he makes beignets done his way. They are made from a fresh egg and butter dough that he scoops and fries and is served with powdered sugar and lemon.

Another great place is Keegan's Seafood Grille in Indian Rocks Beach Florida. The Chef here is a well-traveled Spaniard who started out as an apprentice chef on Caribbean cruise ships. Then he cooked all over the United States. He has owned this restaurant for 20 years now. He cooks up 4 specials a night. When the locals come in they do not look at the menu, they look at the black board to check out the specials. He cooks up dishes like Mediterranean style pan roasted wahoo, baked tilapia stuffed with crabmeat and artichoke, or sauted grouper cheeks Florentine. He also has a Louisiana gumbo that takes him two days to make. It is the real deal.
