Infact, i cringe from the fact that if I had followed the rules from the very beginning and done things the right way, i could have saved a whole lot of money, stress, time and still be making money on auto-pilot.

I never did took the time to research my niche and see what people were actually interested in. i simply went into a whole lot of stuff and combined every niche that interested me, NOT my readers. That was indeed a my undoing.
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION:
This was another mistake I made when getting started online. Of course, I heard about the seo noise going around, but I never thought it would be so crucial in making my business and website get the much-needed publicity. So, I lost so much money by not taking the extra time to do serious keyword research on my niche, link building, google analytics, building site maps etc. These steps are very crucial if you want to succeed online.
PLAGIARISM:
What is that? In case you don't know, it means copying other people's articles for your blog or website content without permission. Now this is frowned by the search engine spiders and could lead to de-listing your site from the search engines. I was penalized by google, cos they deleted my free blog.
My advice, if you see an article on a site that you love, always ASK for PERMISSION. Or better still, simply go to ezinearticles.com and choose any articles you want to post on your site. But give credit to the owner of the article by leaving their url links on the article.
LIST BUILDING:
Now this was the biggest online mistake I committed when starting out with my online marketing and promotion. I simply did not take the time to create a squeeze page with a double opt-in box for capturing my site visitor's contact information for follow ups. if I had done that, I could have been making recurring income from my customers again and again. soi my advice is, take the time to create a squeeze page with double opt-in autoresponder for attracting and capturing your site's visitors info. It would definitely save you money spent on advertising. You'll see!

Oh yes! Now this was another crucial aspect of online marketing that I never bothered to explore. Hmm Hmmm? Remember the old saying that two heads are better than one. It is very important to join heads with similar entrepreneurs in your niche to sell your products/services. All you have to do is give them a slice of your earnings in the form of commissions, whenever they refer potential prospects or make a sale of your products. Very important if you want to make a headway online.
TRAFFIC GENERATION:
I used to wonder what the hell was happening to my site's popularity, anytime I checked my google analytics or sitemeter. It was always 0 visitors. This hurt me so bad, until i began reading articles on various online and offline traffic generation secrets for attracting prospects to my blog/websites. I began to implement what i learnt and began seeing results.

Now this is the present and future of online marketing. i never knew that videos could get huge conversion rates that ordinary text ads or email marketing. This form of internet marketing is a must.

I never had it in mind to include paypal, libertyreserve or alertpay payment processors on my website for easy payment by my custoimers.
