Eligible Hondurans And Nicaraguans Are Reminded By Uscis To Re-register For Tps
Eligible Hondurans and Nicaraguans were reminded by U.S
. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to re-register for their Temporary Protected Status (TPS.) The registration period ended on July 6, 2010. But, Hondurans and Nicaraguans who had failed to re-register by then are reminded to follow the late re-registration guidance.
If an applicant fails to file his/her TPS re-registration application before the closing date, he/she will not be able to enjoy the TPS benefits, such as work authorization and protection from expulsion from the United States. In case the applicant has a valid reason for not filing the re-registration before the closing date, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services may accept a late
TPS re-registration application. The applicant should enclose a letter explaining the reason for his late filing.
Additional tips for filing the TPS re-registration application:
Form I-821 (Application for Temporary Protected Status) and Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) have to be filed by the applicant along with supporting documentation.
Even when the applicant does not require an employment authorization, Form I-765 must be filed.
USCIS requests applicants to file the correct versions of the forms (Form I-821 dated Oct. 17, 2007 or later, and Form I-765 dated May 27, 2008 or later.) Incorrect version of forms will be rejected by USCIS.
Applicants are obliged to accurately complete the forms with all the appropriate boxes marked. The box for re-registration or renewal of temporary benefits should be checked by the applicant in Part 1 of Form I-821.
The applications should be submitted along with the appropriate fee(s). Money order or check should be made payable to the Department of Homeland Security.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services also reminds TPS re-registrants that any delay in filing will end up in delayed processing by USCIS thus resulting in gaps in employment authorization. Applicants who wish to know more about the TPS re-registration application fees, procedures, and requirements can visit
USCIS.
