Employability: Top 15 Tips To Be Highly Employable In India
A great number of reports and surveys produced by such industry bodies as NASSCOM
and FICCI are telling us that only around 10-20% of our fresh graduates are employable in India.
Each year, we produce almost twice the number of engineers produced by the US and a little less than twice of all that Europe produces. The WEF report said that the workforces of India and Brazil will grow by more than 200 million people over the next two decades. The fact is that companies are forced to spend billions of rupees on training their fresh recruits.
The challenge before the industry does not lie in the supply of talent but rather that of employability, Azim Premji, Chairman Wipro Ltd, said. "While India currently boasts of one of the world's largest most qualified pools of scientific and engineering manpower, the growing global demand for appropriately skilled, industry oriented professionals and a gradually widening demand-supply gap are expected to test the limits of India's manpower development capabilities," he says.
Vineet Nayar, CEO, HCL says "The IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) are telling you that whatever you have studied in school is not relevant. We make them realise whatever you studied in college is not relevant."

9. Dependability- Nobody wants a one-time-hero.
10. ComputerSkills- You must have at least basic knowledge.
11. Honesty and Integrity- Give a full day's work for a full day's pay. (No borrowing pencils, no free phone calls,no Orkut, Facebook during work hours.)
12. Punctuality- Reaching on time, following deadlines.
13. Planning/Organizing - Being able to plan, anticipate and implement within allotted time.
14. Staying healthy- Maintaining the over-all performance of the team.
15. Continuous Self-improvement- A great employee/ job seeker is always willing to learn and update and brush up your skills regularly.
