Enabling the Task Manager

Computer viruses not only corrupts your system; but also configures it so that the process of investiagting the viruses will get difficult. Most viruses disable the Task Manager so that no active processes, tasks or services can be displayed. I am going to present the steps to re-enable the Task Manager again.

Using Windows Registry

Can you open the RegistryEditor? If you can, then enable the Task Manager using Registry Editor. Do the following procedure to enable the Task Manager again.

1.Click Start | Run, or Start | Serch.

2.Type RegEdit.

3.Press ENTER.

4.Navigate to the following registry keys, and double click the string DisableTaskMgr, and set its value to 0. [Create a new one if there is no specified string present.]

Using Group Policy Editor

Group Policy is a feature of the Microsoft Windows NT family of operating systems. Group Policy is a set of rules which control the working environment of user accounts and computer accounts.

Perform the following steps to enable the Task Manager using Group Policy Editor.

1.Click Start | Run, or Start | Serch.

2.Type GPEDIT.MSC

3.Double click: User Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Ctrl + Alt + Delete Options.

4.Double clickthe Remove Task Manager option.

5.Select Disabled option, and press OK.
