Engineering Colleges Solve Problem Of Talent Crunch

The problem of talent crunch in India has already reached alarming levels

. Understanding the gravity of the situation, educationists and curriculum framers have started introducing changes in the existing system to eradicate the problem of talent crunch completely. The changes made are small in comparison to the actual requirement but it is speculated that the revolution has already begun. A step-by-step approach would help in preparing our students for job opportunities worldwide. Gladly, various changes have been introduced in the system and the major ones have been mentioned below.

Introduction of Vocational Courses

There was a time when only core subjects were taught at schools and colleges. Such courses emphasized only on theoretical knowledge and there was very little practical part. As a result, students had no clue about using the bookish knowledge in real life situations. To deal with this problem, vocational courses were introduced at schools and Haryana engineering colleges. These courses focus on imparting practical knowledge and prepare students for future jobs.

Hybrid Teaching Methods

For years, teachers have been using conventional methods for teaching students. Such methods may serve the purpose of delivering knowledge but they do not help in retaining the learning for long. Students generally forget what they studied in previous years and it is again an obstacle in education system. To deal with this problem, teachers today use methods that involve all the senses. Teaching and learning through these methods is more effective and students can retain what they learnt for a longer duration of time.

Communication Skills

Believe it or not, the world is becoming smaller and a common language is required using which thoughts and views can be communicated to each other. In most parts of the world, English is one such language and students studying at top engineering colleges must be proficient in this language. Apart from learning English, students should also be trained on developing soft skills. Out of our list of top engineering colleges, a few of them make every possible effort to develop personality of students as a whole.

Tech Savvy

There was a time when only IT students were expected to be well-versed with latest technologies. However, today the scenario has changed and every student irrespective of his stream should be tech savvy. Basic skills like Internet surfing and usage of MS Office have become essential requirements for any profile. For training students in technology related areas, engineering colleges play a crucial role.
