Ensuring That Your Car Rental Goes Smoothly
Many hope for a good experience when they need to rent a vehicle but there are several
various things that can come up when you happen to be renting a vehicle and if you are not aware of them then you should be because these are just a few of the bad experiences that people have had when driving a rental vehicle. Hopefully these will serve as a warning for anyone that is wanting to rent a vehicle.
Joe arrives in his holiday destination of Aruba to pick up his rental vehicle. The vehicle that he is given is a lot more used then Joe feels is adequate and he's informed that is the only vehicle he can take. There are scrapes and dents but he knows that he is in a foreign country and simply takes the vehicle anyway. He returns the vehicle on time and a couple of weeks later his credit card is charged for damages to the vehicle. Fortunately, Joe had the foresight to catch pictures of the rented vehicle on his cell phone when he picked it up and the credit card company is handling this issue for Joe.
In the next scenario, Mary and her daughter are on a road trip in their rented vehicle when the car breaks down. They make contact with the local car rental agency that they rented from and are informed that they need to pay for the repairs to the vehicle themselves and bring the receipts back to the agency at the end of the trip. Well, the repair costs were over $400 which significantly cut into their holiday budget leaving them to cut their trip short.
Todd was in the process of returning his car before a flight out of town when he got a flat tire. In a time crunch he did not have time to change the flat and instead called the car rental company telling them where they can pick up the vehicle. In the end, he wound up not just paying for the tire but also to have the vehicle towed back to the rental company after all the rental agent did not cover a flat tire as emergency road service.
Tolls have become an enormous issue as many rental car companies have toll passes on their vehicles and as Terry learned the hard way they dont charge the tolls on your rental agreement. Instead when she returned home, approximately four weeks later, she received a miscellaneous charge on her credit card, when she inquired about it she was informed that it was for tolls from her recent holiday. Needless to say, had she read her rental agreement she would have been aware of this issue.
Overall, we can learn a great deal from the experiences of others. Taking these lessons to heart will help you to have a greater rental experience and will make you more aware of the things to look for when renting a vehicle.
