Entering Music Production Schools

According to the 1940 census, there were somewhere around 5% of American citizens enrolled in degree-granting higher education programs

. As of the 2010 census, nearly 30% of American citizens are enrolled in higher education institutions. Considering the fact that these percentages represent a growth of 600%, and that the overall population of the United States has grown exponentially over those 70 years, there is a unique observation that must be made about institutions of higher education: it is easier to get in. While it may still be a long-term goal for someone to enter college these days, the process and decision has become dramatically easier to confront in terms of institutional choices and employer requirements. There are even murmuring concerns that many are beginning to see an undergraduate degree as an equivalent to what a high school diploma once was. Amid this striving for advanced degrees then, their exists a new formula partly responsible for the way in which college students are being turned out. For example, rather than teaching a set of skills across a curriculum of studies, it is becoming more common for students to be molded around the genre of their major at a for-profit institution. Perhaps this is done to localize a student with an expertise, but in terms of how each new graduating class of college students have been prepared, the adverse effects of this fast-tracking are emerging. If we continue to push unprepared students through lower grades, through high school, and up into the collegiate level, assuming they are ready and capable, we will cause an irreversible road block. This road block, of course, only exists because unprepared students are being forced to leave institutions of higher education due to a lack of scholarly skills and unequaled institutional costs. Granted, the worst part is that so many will end up failing to complete their degree, but will still become burdened by the loans they took out. This process only verifies the way in which colleges and universities have grown into corporations, making them ultimately capable of as much good as bad, especially as we watch the way tuition prices continue to soar, debilitating family incomes. However, what happens when you are looking at a specific route? What about music production schools?

Music production schools and the like are all about embracing where you want to go and not being afraid of showing your true sides to the world. That said, you should visit such places immediately if you have even an inkling a direct path to college is just not for you.
