Celebrities love to be in the forefront of the news, and adore being the owners of the newest, trendiest crazes. Whether it be the segway or a new designer brand, they love nothing more than to be the first ones to own things, try things and be seen with things. So it comes as no surprise that they are conscious of the environment and want to be seen to be doing the right thing, and this doesn't stop at car purchasing. But who are the leaders in the most environmentally friendly vehicles?

George Clooney drives a Tango, an electric car that seats one man and is able to nip through traffic like a motor cycle, while being better for the environment and slightly safer with more casing and harder sides. It does nought to sixty in four seconds, and appeals to both environment protectors and bike fans. It does however look a little space age, but the celebrities are making it cool!

Penelope Cruz is a little more sophisticated and opts to promote the red carpet, green car' campaign, choosing only to be ferried about in eco friendly limos. A lot of other celebrities that frequent the Oscars did this in 2011 and are embracing the idea of protecting the environment while still looking suave and sophisticated.

The G-Wiz, although not a fashionable car is really economically friendly, and driven by celebrity Kristin Scott Thomas.

Prince Charles, a strong believer in saving the environment, has had his beloved Aston Martin DB6 converted into a bio fuel vehicle, and the fuel can be made from surplus wine that is made in the UK. This is a bonus for recycling and saving the environment!

Made famous by the film Cars, Matt Damon drives a Tesla, which is a flash sports car that is surprisingly good for the environment as it is electrically powered.

Sir Paul McCartney drives a Lexus LS600h, which although being good for the environment as it offers an electric engine, was flown into the country specially. Which sort of defeats the object!
