The History of Epson

Seiko Epson Corporation (Epson) was founded in 1942 by Hisao Yamazaki, a local clock shop owner, in Japan and started as a producer of watch parts.

When the Seiko Group was assigned the task to be the official time keeper for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, Epson was assigned to develop a printing timer. To date, they have become famous for pioneering the piezoelectric Inkjet Technology. Printers using this technology do not heat the ink when printing like other inkjet printers do.

Today, Epson is one of the largest suppliers within the printer market, offering inkjet printers, laser printers, scanners and dot matrix printers for every use from the home to commercial printing.
