These evaporative coolers are simply placed in any spot of a room and do not require any complicated setup. However, the price you will have to pay for portability and convenience is the reduced cooling ability. Usually, portable evaporative coolers have less cooling effect compared to other evaporative cooler types. They can lower air temperature by 5 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. That being said, they are ideal only in moderate-climate areas, not in very hot climates.
