The huge aircraft which traverse the skies every day, and the massive cargo ships which criss-cross the worlds seas and oceans are massive beasts, which are capable of carrying massive tonnages of worldwide freight.

And day by day, they are filled with urgent consignments of all shapes, sizes and weights, all carefully loaded to make the most efficient possible use of the space available. Freight forwarding and shipping companies see overseeing the safe handling and dispatch of unusually-sized or shaped packages as part of their daily routine, and its probably fair to say that they see the challenge of arranging the efficient delivery of such items as one to relish.

Filling a container while ensuring that the most cost-effective possible use is made of the space is a fine art. Rather like when putting items into a cupboard, or arranging the furniture in a room, it needs to be tackled in a methodical, step-by-step manner. So a non-standard sized or shaped consignment is likely to be given precedence when being loaded into a container or trailer, so that every other piece of freight can be arranged around it.

So while these companies like the idea of handling huge amounts of items of a uniform size, they know that, in reality, parcels, like the people involved in moving them, come in a vast variety of shapes and sizes. And rather than make an issue out of how they handle such non-uniform cargoes, they will celebrate the fact that their operations are sufficiently adaptable to be able to transport it with ease.
