It is certainly possible to put together a lovely garden without needing a lot of

expensive equipment but having the correct gardening tools can help you save a lot of time. Obviously you can use your hands for digging holes but why bother when you can use your garden trowel to do it for you. The fact is this: having the right tools will help you do your job. Kneelers can also be a good idea. Most gardening involves spending a lot of time crouching or on your hands and needs. You can easily make your own garden kneelers out of Styrofoam or similar materials-anything soft will do for you to lean your knees on. You could also purchase specially made gardening mats. Kneelers and mats can help ease the burden on your knees. These gardening tools also help you to protect your clothing from getting dirty and worn through.

A hovel is very important. You can purchase a long handled or short handled hovel. Typically a hovel is a shovel that has a rounded point. Many gardeners prefer short handled hovels because they help a gardener balance while longer handled hovels do not. Gardeners dig holes with hovels.

Gardeners use hovels to help them move plants from one location to another without having to stress out about the root systems or root bulbs of the plants. They can also be used to pat down the earth as you relocate your seedlings or plant your seeds.
