Sears ran and Battaglia used a Taser to subdue him before he got to the waiting room, McElroy said.
"The officer was aware that the last time Sears was at the hospital, that it took 10 security officers and TPD officers to restrain him," McElroy said.
Sears, an offensive lineman, was drafted by Tampa Bay in 2007. He made an immediate impact and started in 16 regular season games as a rookie.
