Many people wonder how health care costs have gotten so high and why the cost of health insurance is so astronomical
. Those in the health care industry are not just over charging you for the heck of it like many people believe there are some real issues within the system that are resulting in heightened health care expenses across the board.
The cost of health care involves many factors that are simply out of the control of the medical profession and one of the biggest factors helping to increase the cost of health care to the American public lies with the cost of medical malpractice insurance. This type of insurance is actually one of the biggest expenses that doctor's and hospitals face and they have little choice about paying for this type of coverage with the number of medical malpractice suits that occur each year.
Another factor that significantly increases the cost of America's health care is the number of unpaid medical bills that exist nationwide. Since hospitals get no reimbursement for the care that they give that does not get paid for they must find a way to make up for this lost income and therefore are forced to keep raising costs across the board to help cover these unpaid medical expenses.
Insurance companies have no recourse but to raise health care insurance premiums to offset the increase of the doctor and hospital fees. Most Americans, only see the hit to their pocketbook and think the insurance companies are gorging them. They have little understanding of what the reasons behind the rising costs signify. They only see their paychecks dwindling as the costs of living increase.
Many think that health care reform will be the answer to everything; however, unpaid bills and frivolous lawsuits need to be addressed first. These issues will not resolve themselves and unless they are solved the cost will continue to escalate. We need to work together to try and resolve the health care issues facing America today or these costs will continue to skyrocket.
