Excessive Facial Sweating - A Manifestation Of Hyperhidrosis
Excessive facial sweating or facial hyperhidrosis can also be considered as another manifestation of hyperhidrosis
. This is characterized by perspiring all over the face, your forehead, your nose, the upper lip, your chin and often affects your entire face, your scalp and neck. Facial hyperhidrosis may occur by sweating alone or it can be in combination with facial blushing.
Facial hyperhidrosis also comes in two forms. The first is primary or idiopathic hyperhidrosis. It is a form of sweating disorder in which cause has no known source. It's just as if the person's nervous system continually commands the body to produce more and more sweat. Oftentimes, this happens due to anxiety and worry about the outcome of being exposed of having this problem. However, this does not hold true all the time since as the explanation goes for primary hyperhidrosis, its cause is unknown.
The other form of facial hyperhidrosis is called secondary hyperhidrosis which can be considered as a more serious form of sweating disorder. This form, unlike the idiopathic or primary hyperhidrosis has several known causes. This can be brought on by any medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, anxiety, infections, menopause, psychiatric disorder, thyroid problems or a tumor on an adrenal gland called pheochromocytoma. This form can be cured by totally eliminating or curing the disease that cause the disorder to exist.
Excessive facial sweating can be an embarrassing disorder. It can affect mainly your social relationships because of the awkwardness the patient might feel if their disorder attacks. The cure of the disease can be dependent on the seriousness of the disease and the factors that cause it to exist. If the condition tends to be in existence after having experienced a certain emotion such as being extremely happy or being utterly depressed or if the condition also appears after a certain mental state or condition just like feelings of anxiety and nervousness, then its best to seek the aid of a psychologist. They can be the trusted professionals who can better understand your case. If it's purely physical, meaning the things that may cause it to occur is the reactions of the nervous system, it can be treated through specialized creams, antiperspirants or the patient may undergo iontophoresis, a technique of injecting or delivering a drug or medicine through the skin by a low electrical current without the use of a needle but a small electric charge to stimulate sweating. With the proper treatment and regulation, excessive facial sweating can be cured and regulated.
