Exercise Helps Slow Down Aging
Taking care of your body isn't nearly as difficult as it is made out to be
. And the benefits of feeling better, looking better, having more energy and vitality, being generally healthier, etc. (you get the idea) far outweigh what someone might consider a hardship to achieve that end.
When a mechanic repairs a car he finds a faulty part and then replaces it and everything is fine. A body is different in that it is an interrelated, adaptive machine. A problem with one part will usually affect other parts as well. The flip side of that though is that if you help one body part you are probably also creating a positive effect on many other parts of your body as well.
That said there are many things you can do to prevent or slow the aging process. This is often a concern for nearly everyone who is not a teenager. Many people worry about getting old when they turn 30. That's a laugher to someone turning 60 but it is a relative thing for everyone. The earlier in life a person starts taking care of his or her body the easier it is to maintain health throughout one's lifetime.
Naturally, eating a good, well rounded diet with lots of fruits and vegetables is an important factor in maintaining good health and slowing the aging process (these are the same thing actually.) Vitamins and mineral supplements and the antioxidants that they contain are a wonderful way to prevent oxidation of the cells. When I say oxidation think of your car rusting away from the elements. That is the same process your cells go through if you don't do something to protect them.
Exercise is by far one of the most effective ways to slow the rate of aging.
It builds muscle, burns fat, including belly fat which has been proven to cause heart problems among other things, and improves your metabolism.
It counteracts high blood pressure, high lipid levels, and obesity, all three of which have been associated with aging.
It's good for your brain, your heart, your lungs and your immune system. The fact is it's good for the whole body.
It even works to manage and prevent stress and depression.
Many times we overlook the role of good mental health. That's unfortunate, because mind and body are just as inter-related as any two other body parts you can think of.
Have you heard people say that stress aged them 20 years overnight? It's an exaggeration, but stress really can age you.
It's not possible to eliminate stress anymore than it would be possible to eliminate your body's stress response. Emergencies happen, and the fight-or-flight system allows you to deal with them effectively.
But chronic stress is a problem. The fight-or-flight system built into the human body is there for emergencies. It shouldn't always be on.
Luckily, numerous studies have proven that there are a variety of ways to deal with stress and improve your health at the same time. Things like getting exercise...eating omega-3s... getting enough vitamin D...
Good health is far simpler than one might think. And as I said, anti-aging is just a matter of maintaining good health for longer.
Take care of your body and your body will take care of you, as the saying goes. It's as simple as that.
