The benefits of exercise treadmills are more than just for the body
, the mind can benefit too! Exercise not only increases blood flow to the brain which is good in itself, but also during exercise the body releases hormones and chemicals that produce that "feel good factor" buzz, it is not just psychological boost, it is a feeling with a physiological basis to it.
Studies have indicated that only moderate levels of physical exercise can be quite as effective at treating the symptoms of lower level depression as prescription drugs. This is probably due to a combination of hormones and chemicals that are released by the body during periods of exercise, but unlike many chemicals used in drugs there are no side effects, except a positive one of that your overall health should improve!
Exercise is also good for countering the negative effects of stress, one of which is caused when the adrenaline rush, due to the "flight or fight" response, is not used for that purpose for which it evolved. Where once it might have been a matter of life or death that triggered a survival body response, now modern life can trigger that exact same response when it is not appropriate to run away or fight in a non-life threatening situation. It doesn't have to be real physical threat, just a perceived one, e.g. the threat of redundancy, but the body acts as if it is a threat that will require physical action!
If adrenaline is repeatedly released and then not used up in physical activity it can have long term detrimental effects on our bodies, exercising on a treadmill can be a great way of counteracting these unwanted effects caused by life's stresses.
At the top of the lists for home exercise equipment that works and gets used are exercise treadmills. You are least likely to abandon your fitness treadmill to gather dust when compared with other types of equipment and there are some strange bits of equipment on the market too, they may look good on the TV shopping channels but don't usually stand the test of time back at home!
You can get a very wide range of treadmills for home use, ranging from budget end manual treadmills, where you provide all the motive power, to some very sophisticated motorized and computerized ones, but they can all provide a good cardio workout and burn fat too. Some have heart rate monitors, some can calculate calories burnt, there are ones the log your progress per session and overall, which can all give you positive feedback and the motivation to continue.
If you seriously want to get or keep fit, lose weight or deal with health problems, an exercise treadmill could be the answer, if space at home is tight there are a good range of folding treadmills that will do exactly the same job as the fixed ones.
Be careful, there are so many fitness treadmills to choose from it can make you feel confused, so don't go to buy without being armed with information first!
