One of the best free activities to kick-start your visit to Berlin is a walking tour. There are many options available, and while some will incur a fee, the majority of walking tour companies offer free tours, usually covering the main sites to give you a taster of their services. This is an excellent way to not only learn a little about the city, but to get your bearings. From Checkpoint Charlie to Museum Island, you can gain some history from people who live and work in the city, and take note of places you might like to come back to and see in more detail.
