Exploring The Different Types Of Rental Projectors
Multimedia projectors are quite different from movie projectors
. Movie projectors are designed to project film on to a screen. Multimedia projectors can project images from different sources, including DVD players, computers, video games and even your TV. These projectors (whether bought or rented) are fun for individuals to use for special occasions, including movie nights, parties or even corporate events. Yet, you may be wondering how do projectors work?
DLP vs. LCD
Well, the answer to the previous question depends on the type of projector that you have. There are two main types of projectors: DLP and LCD. Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors use tiny mirrors that are strategically placed to project light. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projectors, on the other hand, use liquid crystals that create a sort of prism effect. Generally, LCD projectors are less expensive than DLP projectors. (You can, however, save money by renting a projector over buying it, especially if you only plan on using the projector for only a handful of events.) DLP projectors, however, are usually brighter and more vivid than LCD projectors because of the way the light and colors are reflected.
LCD Projector: How It Works
As mentioned earlier, LCD screens use liquid crystals to project light and create images. The crystals create a sort of prism effect, separating all of the colors into primary colors. The liquid crystals are trapped behind two panels, which are located at a 90 degree angle to each other. The crystals in the panel are constantly changing shape and get excited by electricity. As the electricity moves through the crystals, it causes them to expand, break apart or come closer together. This causes varying amounts of light and shadows to enlarge and show up on your screen.
DLP Projector: How It Works
While the LCD projectors use small liquid crystals, the DLP projector uses a spinning color wheel and mirrors. As the color wheel spins, light will illuminate one color on the wheel, and only that color is displayed. Light is then reflected by hundreds of thousands of tiny mirrors located inside chips in the projector. The mirrors also don't stay the same: some will open while others will close. This whole process is extremely fast so you don't see the break in light and colors. You only see the final product: the image on the screen in front of you.
Whether you choose an LCD rental projector or a DLP rental projector, you're sure to create an event so special that your guests will be raving for years to come.
