Exploring The Show Of A Corporate Magician
Choosing a career path isn't always easy
Choosing a career path isn't always easy. Some of us just don't seem cut out for spending our days in the hot sun working a blue collar position, and we seem equally unsuited for working in an office environment either. If you are running out of ideas, consider this. There is always the entertainment field, even if you can't act or sing, you could always become a corporate magician
A magician with the word corporate in front of their title is not someone who works in a penthouse office by day, and does tricks on a Las Vegas tricks on the stage at night. What the term refers to is a magician who is hired to perform shows at corporate retreats, parties, and meetings. Many of these magicians are also talented speakers and often fulfill a motivational role as well.
Without tricks a magician is nothing but another pretty face. You have to learn as many tricks as you can. Many magicians learn their craft from reading how-to books, experimentation, videos, and the internet. There are also magic camps and organizations where instruction is available. Some would-be magicians leave home and apprentice with master magicians, often working as an assistant while they learn the tricks of the trade.
Don't get discouraged when things don't seem to happen very quickly. Learning magic is just like learning any other skill. It takes a great deal of time and effort, and you are going to make mistakes along the way.
Remember that great magicians have several different types of tricks that they use during the course of their shows. There is a great deal more to being a master magician than simply sawing a woman in half and pulling a rabbit out of a black hat. Good magicians incorporate things like slight of hand card tricks, illusions, and card throwing into their acts.
When you go to one of these magicians shows, you feel like they are talking only to you, even if there are thousands of people around you. This type of connection is what makes people truly believe that the person on the stage is something extraordinary. You need to spend hours observing these talented performers and learn how to communicate the same way.
Body language is sometimes even more powerful than the spoken word. This is very true when it comes to magic. Not only can you use your body language to help tell a story and set a mood. Sometimes the shift of a hand or a surprising twist of the head can capture the audiences eye just long enough for an illusion or slight of hand trick to work.
Don't think that just because you have managed to put together a show means that you will be turning down offers and making a fortune. It is going to take a long time, and a lot more practice before you get hired for your first corporate gig. The thing you have to do is lighten up and not worry. When you're ready someone will notice you and hire as the corporate magician for their business event.
