Extended Wear Contact Lenses

There are a lot of people who wear contacts that don't take care of them

, quite as they should. Sometimes, people will wear their lenses for too long, without cleaning them in between, and this leads them to dealing with eye irritations, swelling, redness, puffiness, and other problems. If you have found yourself facing these issues, and are bouncing through different types of lenses, then you may want to consider the benefits of extended wear contact lenses. You will want to check with your optometrist to ensure that these types of lenses are right for you, and have a proper examination performed.

One of the biggest benefits of extended use contact lenses, is the ability to leave them in over night. A lot of people fall asleep in their lenses, and unfortunately, most are not using extended use, and will face eye irritations in the morning. These types of irritations are often associated with poor cleaning habits, but it is also from wearing the lenses for too long. Contacts start to build up calcium, that after time, will begin to scratch and irritate your eyes, unless you have taken the proper precautions; removing them, and keeping them cleaned.

Extended use contact lenses also don't have to be cleaned near as often as other types of lenses. This means, that if you have a lazy bone in you, and don't take quite the care that you should, then you will deal with a lot less problems while using extended use, over other types. When you do clean them though, you are going to want to make sure that you use a solution that is fit to your eyes, that is not going to cause them to dry out easily. That is the next major benefit of extended wear contacts; they don't dry out near as easily as other types.Because an extended wear contact helps reduce the susceptibility to eye irritations, redness, and dryness, people with sensitive eyes can receive huge benefits if they are able to adjust into a continuous use lens. Before you make the switch though, you will want to consult with your optometrist, and schedule regular examinations, to ensure that your eyes are remaining healthy, after switching. If you begin feeling even more irritations, or redness, discontinue use, and revert back to the lenses that were good for you previously, and then call your doctor if the symptoms do not go away.
