They are not for the faint of heart, they give an adrenaline rush like none other, and many compare them to a roller coaster on the ice. Snow kiting has become a new extreme winter sport. This sport actually lifts one off the ground, skis and all, and allows them to sail through the air. The skier is hooked to a kite and using wind power, lifts off the ground. This is an adventure, which requires a great amount of courage. Gliding over mountains and not touching the slopes, can be a pretty intense thrill. This dangerous sport is gaining in popularity, mostly due to its rush.

If snow kiting is not enough for one, they can try ice climbing. It sounds slippery and dangerous and that it is. In Ouray, Colorado, the ice park is becoming a hot attraction. Faucets set all along the canyon are turned on, when it is cold enough to freeze them in mid-stream; this is when the real fun begins. There is a three day festival, in honor of this extreme sport. Another way for one to get kicks is by going on a dog sled tour. Popular in Alaska and other snowy areas, these astonishing journeys are priceless. One can be pulled through the woods, with a pack of canines at good speeds. It allows one a new style of skiing and the adventure is amazing. Usually pulled by Siberian huskies, these dogs have incredible strength and can pull a bob sled with 5 people on it. Feel the wind whipping through ones hair, and the crisp winter snow on the ground, this is a must do event for those who enjoy the snow.

Whether one prefers to be a traditional skier, or prefers to live on the wild side, there are plenty of activities on the snow to cater to both personalities.
