Ezine Articles, Article Marketing and the Latest Google Update

I was surprised one morning to find that Ezine Articles had added a new level for publishers- no longer is platinum the top dog of this directory.

As I discovered this new level I learned that I had to send a message to support in order to find out whether or not I qualify. I had a very easy time reaching Platinum status, and I've never had an article rejected from their reviewers, so I figured I'd get accepted really quickly and it would be a cakewalk! Boy was I wrong about that one.

At first I was sent a short list of items I should polish with my account to make sure I'd seal the deal.

The main things they wanted from me, for all of my pen names, were as follows:

1. Full bio's were needed for each pen name.

2. Each pen name needed its own author photo.

3. Each pen name needed its own default resource box.

I figured this was easy enough to fix and off to work I went. Once I finished the list I responded to the reviewer to let him know that I was done.

Now I'm thinking everything is cool and I'll easily get upgraded to Diamond. Like I already said, I've never had a problem with EZA and I made Platinum in 10 articles, so I know they know I can write.

Well, I got an email alright- but is was a letter stating that my account was suspended! Huh? Are you kidding me?

I emailed support again and try to find out what the problem is.

This time it took them much longer to reply- in fact, it took most of the rest of the day. Midway through the afternoon, EZA finally got back to me and let me know why my account was suspended.

An older site of mine specializing in PLR turned out to be the issue. In my main author bio box I mentioned that I was a PLR writer and put a link to my PLR site on the page. Here's what I was told:

" Your account has been suspended because the link http://PLRAuthority.com is included in your Author Bio.

We do not accept any promotion of PLR articles whatsoever. Please remove this from your bio.

Once it has been removed, please let us know and we will review your account."

So that's it in a nutshell PLR is absolutely verboten at EZA! That's news to me. I wish someone would have told me instead of suspending my account!!!

But don't worry, because it gets a lot better!

I then rewrite my bio (it needed to be updated anyway) and I make it current so it now reflects what I actually do online. Thinking the matter closed, I replied back to support that I was ready for another review

Right around 4:30, they finally send me a reply. It tells me that my account has been reinstated!

Hooray!

All is well again!

Except that I'm not!

They screwed me! What else is new when dealing with EZA. Definitely a pain as if we in IM needed any more hassles!

Instead of reinstating my account to its original Platinum position, they lowered me to a Basic PLUS member and said I have to submit 10 more articles to move back up to Platinum!

Does this make any sense to anyone? This is how they treat me?

It's not like they had a problem with my writing ability. For over a year I've been turning in successful submissions.

So what's this, a slap on the wrist?

I think it's silly. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

As of right now I am undecided if I will play their game and bow down to their whims!

They've lost position with Google and you can't get as much traffic from their site as you once could.

So why do I want to waste my high quality content on their site anyway?

What choice do I have?
