The allure of starting your own Fortune Hi Tech Marketing business is the brilliance of the business model, the simplicity of the marketing strategy and the potential earnings.

In fact, the marketing strategy most frequently promoted is just pushing play on your DVD player! Your prospect will be wooed by one of the company's top earners making a compelling presentation on the company, its services and compensation plan. But can this strategy make you lazy?

Leveraging your upline with a DVD is a great strategy in the beginning, but there are several compelling arguments as to why you may not want to bet your business on this approach.

First, and most important, showing a DVD to your prospect does not position you as a leader it positions the presenter as the leader. This is critical because people follow leaders and as the CEO of your FHTM business you must present yourself as a leader in order to effectively sponsor new business partners and to develop a following in your downline.

Secondly, distributors may end up using the DVD as a crutch and therefore become lazy. They have the misconception that the DVD will do all the work for them and may neglect to hone their sales skills. Eventually, if you want to build a business that will provide you with financial security and time freedom, you have to get serious about developing your people skills and the faster you can do this faster your business will grow.

Prominent business leader, Robert Kiyosaki promotes network marketing in his book Rich Dad's The Business School, because it teaches distributors sales skills that are valuable in all areas of their life, saying "The ability to sell is the number one skill in business".

So where do you turn if you want to avoid becoming lazy and to become a leader in your business? First, it starts with knowing how to market properly and how to get leads coming to you. Then, you must know the psychology behind why people buy and have the skill set to help them make the right decision for them, which all boils down to sales skills.
