Facebook has over 400mm users - We get the thoughts of James Kinloch

The WWW has seen some massive changes in the last few years. The biggest of which is Social Networks. Social networks have change the way we talk to each other, and without question the way businesses work.

"To offer one example, 81% of visits to CNN.com in the week to March 6, 2010 were returning visitors while 84% of visitors to CNN.com that came from Facebook.com were returning visitors and 72% from Google News were returning visitors."[Source]

I had aplumbingproblema few weeks back and how did I solve theproblem? I went on Facebook and searched for "plumbers" and of the manyresultsthat come up, I chose one and within a week the problem was fixed! Well, it stopped leaking for a week, at least.

So, what does this tell us? In the grand scheme of things not much, but it does show that people are usingsocialnetworks for more mundane reasons aside from giving someone a "poke".

What theseplatformsprovide is a way to connectwithpeople for whatever reason you see fit. James Kinloch, who I meet with some years ago and who provides talks,strategyand ideation for a known mediaagencyis always looking at the latest buzz and pushing this through to theforefrontofpeoplesminds.

We really are on the edge of an amazing time on the WWW but it is how we engage with this that will make it all work. The world ofon-linemedia is simplystunningand weshouldall be amazed that we are living through this.
