Fat Burning Advice - Maintaining Your Target Heart Rate For Effective Fat Burning
If you are embarking on a healthy lifestyle, and are starting to take some exercise
to trim down your body fat, well done! I hope I can give you some advice that will make your path a little easier. If you joined a gym to help you to exercise you have probably had some advice from the trainer, and he probably said something along the lines of, " we need to find your target heart rate, and develop a program to keep it at that level for 30 minuets or more."
That sounds OK to most people, and in itself isn't bad advice, as you will definitely see results. However, did you know you can achieve better, and faster results, by doing almost the exact opposite. Not only will it be easier, it wont be as hard on your joints, and can be completed much faster, you burn more fat too. It's a matter of working smarter not harder.
Sitting on an exercise bike, or working on a stair climber for upwards of half an hour is repetitive and boring. It is also quite hard on your joints, and could lead to problems years down the line if you do it for any length of time. That's OK though because it is so boring I doubt you will keep it up for long, or find the spare time to do it. Obviously if you do give up you wont reach your goals, so what can you do.
The good news is, the most effective form of fat burning exercises are a lot easier on you and your time. They are collectively known as interval resistance training, and use weights and other resistance type equipment to work each section of your body during each workout. This form of workout takes less time because it is carried out slowly and deliberately. This drives each muscle group to it's limit within just one set of repetitions, and because you only take short rests between each you get a great cardiovascular workout at the same time.
These exercises are low impact too so they are kind to your body, as well as being quick to complete. You should only do this workout three times per week for maximum effectiveness, so it should be easier to find the time to do them. This means you are more likely to be able to maintain it over time.
If you adopt an interval resistance training exercise routine, and stay clear of the target heart rate style of aerobic training, not only will you will save the wear on your joints your will gain more free time and gain more benefit from increased fat burning rate. Try it next time you visit the gym and move on to a healthier happier you.
