If you have been trying to lose fat, you have probably tried a load of different diets, most of them without success. Many approaches do work, but there are a few variables that need to be constant! Here are three key tips for fat loss diets.

1. Follow the 90% Rule

There is a rule that applies to a lot of endeavors that says as long as you are consistent with your plan 90% of the time, you will achieve pretty much the same results as if you were 100% consistent. This rule is great for fat loss diets!


If you're serious about your fat loss diets, then try keeping a food log for the first few weeks. Write down every meal and EVERY snack you have. You should be eating around six, small, nutritious meals per day, so any big meal, bad food, or impromptu snack counts against your plan. Aim for 90% consistency with your 42 weekly meals!

2. Keep Yourself Occupied

If you're not used to eating healthy, fat loss diets may cause you to crave some of the foods you once enjoyed frequently. This is normal when transition to a healthier way of eating, but in the meantime, you need to keep your mind off of the foods you think you want to pig out on!

Get a new hobby, volunteer, do something to take your mind off of the food you're thinking about. You'll soon start to enjoy your healthier meals, and you will less often see food as something that HAS to be pleasurable. This isn't to say you shouldn't learn to cook good, healthy meals, though.

3. Learn to Cook Healthy

It can be hard to cook tasty meals without using tons of butter, oil, cheese, and other fat-dense foods. To minimize the need for these types of ingredients and make your fat loss diets more enjoyable, try using cooking techniques such as steaming, braising, and boiling. These methods allow for juicy, flavorful food, especially meat, without adding too much fat.

You should also learn how to combine fresh vegetables, spices, and herbs into your foods to make tasty combinations without a lot of butter or oil. Every type of cuisine has a collection of spices that distinguish its flavors try them all!
