Feature-rich Revolutionary And Reliable

In an era where technology is taking over, it would be sad to be left behind

. In the realm of computers and mobile phones, it has already created dominance. A feature-rich phone will replace the need for a digi-cam, a navigation device, and a media player. Electronic readers have not been left behind either. With more and more readers falling in love with these devices, they are becoming more sophisticated, but more users friendly and reliable all at the same time.

With an e-reader, you do a lot more than rid the need of hardcopy print material. Detailing the specifications of any conventional e-book reader, you would be surprised at just how many features are availed. Of course it all starts with support for basic file types- PDF, TXT, .doc and other Microsoft documents. If you source your e-book from the internet or local library, you can be sure your e-reader can handle the format.. You get a large, anti-glare screen for this. Depending on how much your budget is, you can get 5" of screen estate for a $140 Sony Pocket edition or $450+ for the Kindle DX which will give you a 9.7" screen.

To get your e-books, the internet will probably be your biggest resource, so that calls for wireless connectivity. For this you can get anything from 3G, 3.5G to Wi-Fi. 3G is the most reliable since Wi-Fi is limited to hotspots. Download speeds are totally satisfying with no drags or pauses whatsoever. Perhaps the best part of it all is you don't have to subscribe. That is with the exception that your reader has a secondary function of web-browsing, in which case, a subscription would be necessary.

Music playback support is also availed in many e-readers, with support for MP3 and sometimes AAC format. JPEG support in a reader means you can view your photos as well. Inbuilt memory is not usually so much, especially for a low end reader, but you can easily expand it to even 4GB or 8GB using an SD card or a memory stick (Sony Readers.)

If you charge your phone every other day, you wouldn't want the task of doing the same with your reader- and you don't have to. Long battery life is a rule with e-readers, giving you at least a week, even with daily internet use. Touch controlled readers are also available, but that's a matter of preference above anything else.

Just how much you save will determine the kind of reader you get. While $130 can get you a reader to use every other day, $650 should get you an iPad, which you can not only use as an electronic reader, but as a web browser, media player and gaming unit as well.
