Features Of The Htc Sensation Xe And Htc One X
Until recently, the HTC Sensation XE was the increasingly popular manufacturers flagship smartphone
. This was recently overtaken by the stunning new One X. In this article I will see how the two differ, so you can decide if the new HTC One X is worthy of the flagship title.
Operating System
Although the Sensation XE will support an upgrade to the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, it ships with the Gingerbread version installed as standard. The HTC One X is one of the first smartphones to sport, and HTCs first to ship with the new version already installed. This means the handset is optimised to take full advantage of the new software. It is the biggest overhaul to the platform seen thus far, and boasts its most innovative features to date. Although the majority of these will be supported by the Sensation XE, it is possible that there may be hardware compatibility issues. There will be no such worries with the One X though.
Camera
Although very similar on paper, the cameras on these two phones are considerably different. Lets start with the similarities; both cameras have the same 8 megapixel resolution along with 1080p HD video capture together with a host of image enhancing features such as image stabilisation. Face & smile detection, LED flash, touch focus and geo-tagging. The HTC One X is the fastest camera to date from HTC. This is thanks largely to a dedicated processor core which handles the camera, so not only will the camera app be faster, but the images will appear brighter and clearer than previously possible. The HTC One X also has another feature up its sleeve which is not included with the previous flagship. This is the ability to simultaneously capture still images and video footage, resulting in a freeze-frame effect on videos.
Processor
The HTC One X is HTCs first smartphone to boast a quad-core processor. In fact it is also one of the very first smartphones in general to include this feature. As mentioned, when the camera is in use, a whole core is dedicated to this process, and this is also true of other features such as watching HD movies on the impressive screen, browsing the web or using resource-hungry apps. Having four processor cores at its disposal also means that the HTC One X excels at multitasking, whereby the phone can run multiple apps simultaneously without affecting the performance of any of them. The HTC Sensation XE is also good at this, but with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, cannot multitask to the same degree. In fact, until recently, the HTC Sensation XE was the most powerful smartphone in the world in terms of its processing power, which goes to show just how quickly mobile phone technology is advancing.
In my opinion, the HTC One X is definitely worthy of its place at the top of the HTC range. The HTC Sensation, at the time of its release was also worthy of the same title compared to competing smartphones on the market. The HTC Sensation XE is still a great phone, but with its up to date spec sheet, the HTC One X is currently hard to beat.
