The fastest way to break up with your girlfriend is to ignore the small stuff. You probably dont even realise that you do it. Your girlfriend wont walk out just because you have left the toilet seat up or your laundry on the floor. Do it often enough though and it feeds the break up beast that is lurking and snapping up every snack you drop to it until it is big and strong enough to bite you.

How to Tame the Beast!

1.Honesty is the best policy, or is it?

Outright lies are definitely not the way to go, trust and respect is a major factor in any relationship. Honesty is the best policy, but honesty with some tact and diplomacy please!

So when your girlfriend asks Does this dress make me look fat? think carefully about how you answer, the break up beast is drooling waiting for his snack! Tell her she looks good to you whatever she wears and the beast starves for another day.

2.Show your love.

Women like to know that they are loved, and spend a lot of time reassessing their relationships. Each time they do, the break up beast is drip fed growth hormones! Arm yourself with little gestures that reassure your girlfriend that you love her. That does not mean buying huge expensive gifts at every opportunity. Little things done often will wound the beast more.

A few ideas:

Get up a bit earlier and have coffee and breakfast waiting for her when she wakes up

Leave a note in her purse so she finds it while at work/out shopping

Thank her for doing something routine like making dinner or ironing a shirt

Call or text her during the day just to say I love you

Make a note of what she is reading and pick up a book by the same author from the library on your way home

You get the idea, and hopefully notice none of the suggestions actually cost money.

3.Pay Attention!

Theres nothing tastier to the break up beast than a man tuning out every time his girlfriend tries to have a conversation. Your girlfriend needs to feel she is important to you and will feel rejected if you are staring into space, reading the newspaper, or trying to watch TV while shes talking to you.

Make an effort to actually fully listen to what shes saying. Physically stop what you are doing and turn to face her so she knows she has your full attention. If you would rather talk later because you are busy, then tell her. Just dont do that all the time!

The break up beast can never be fully killed off, its always there waiting for you to fall back into your old ways. Just remember small gestures every day and the beast will be as tame as kitten.
