Now, you might not believe me immediately, but if you choose your words quite carefully, you get on the front foot with your relationship and enter the control position. Your ex will come to feel an irresistable compulsion to return your call.

Wonderful if it can work, isn't it? And it does work.

This would solve one of the big harsh problems in correcting a relationship.

To begin with, here's how NOT to get your ex to return your calls.

Seem pathetic.

"Steve, I've been calling and calling. What's wrong ? Please, I absolutely need to speak with you"

Big deal- if Steve doesn't feel there's something in it for him to talk to you, he is not going to rush towards the phone.

In the same way: "Sue, something dire has happened. I need to get in contact with you"

Unless something really really horrible for both of you has really happened, don't hold your breath on this one.

You need to work on the sort of human emotions that get your ex going.

What are they?

Easy, curiousity and self interest.

Yep, what is going on and what is in it for me.

So a message like "Steve, too bad I missed you. I would like to thank you personally for what you did. That was wonderful. Call me back, so I can thank you in person"

However, when good ol' Steve rings back, you'd better have something tangible and plausable to thank him for or you will do more damage than good.

You have to have a plan or your initiative will be wasted.
