Feeling Sleepy All The Time Is Not Normal
If you are feeling sleepy during day time even if you had a really good sleep at night
, then what you are feeling is not normal anymore. Normally, when people get enough sleep, they can already function productively the next day. However, for some individuals, it is difficult to have their energy back even though they have generally acquired a good night's rest.
The important question is what causes people to feel sleepy amidst having 7 to 8 hours of sleep? This question will be answered in detail in this article so read on.
Having enough sleeping hours is not enough to guarantee an energized morning. Most of the time, getting energy is not about the length of your sleep rather it is about how well you are able to sleep at night. Even if you had a good 8 hours of sleep, if you have been waking up several times during the night, you will still feel generally tired. Waking up at night disrupts the recovery schemes that the body is undergoing. In addition, the body feels tired and restless because the circadian system is disrupted.
Here's how it goes. Sleep has different stages. Each stage corresponds to different restoring activities. If the body does not complete one stage, it will be confused and the tendency is to go back to the earlier stage. If this cycle continues, then it will result into an incomplete restoration process because the body is not able to complete all the necessary stages of sleep.
Disrupted sleep should not only be blamed to nightmares because these bad dreams are not the only reasons behind waking up several times at night. There are certain medical conditions that can cause damage to the natural biological clock of the body. The most common among these conditions is sleep apnea. How does it cause a person to wake up several times during bedtime? It is simple. When a person has this condition, sudden stoppage in breathing may be experienced while sleeping. As a result, the body will wake up because it needs to counter sleep apnea. This happens every 20 minutes to an hour which causes several sleep disruptions at night. People with this condition may not realize that they have it unless they are diagnosed by a doctor or until a family member tells them. Some of the symptoms include snoring and oversleeping.
Another problem behind the feeling of being sleepy during daytime is insomnia. This condition is characterized by the difficult in sleeping at night. No matter how much a person wants to sleep, he cannot. This cause people to sleep later than the time they have planned. If you sleep at 3am everyday but you have to work and wake up at 6am, then there should not be any question as o why you are feeling sleepy and sluggish all day.
You have to remember that sleep is an utmost necessity for the body. You should always get a good quality rest to ensure that the body will have enough energy for the whole day.
