Fiesta Bowl Tickets - Who Will Play In The Fiesta Bowl?
The Fiesta Bowl is still a long way off, but there are plenty of fans out there still
wondering if their favorite team will be playing in this prestigious bowl game. As of Nov. 14, 2009 the participants are still up for grabs, and any number of possible outcomes could dictate a wide variety of participants.
If you find out that your favorite team is coming to the Bowl, you had better head online to find some Fiesta Bowl tickets. The game is usually incredibly exciting and an awesome spectacle for the football fans who make the trip out to Arizona. The Fiesta Bowl takes place on Jan. 4 this year, so time is running out-act quickly to secure your seats. Here are a few of the most likely teams to make the Fiesta Bowl.
Iowa - Right now the Iowa Hawkeyes look like the most likely participant in the Fiesta Bowl this year. While the rules say that the Fiesta Bowl will feature the winner of the Big 12 Conference, at this point it might be the case that the winner, projected to be undefeated Texas, will probably head to the ultimate prize, the BCS National Championship Game in Pasadena on Jan. 7.
Iowa is a two-loss team at this point, ranked No. 10 in the latest BCS list, and has the look of a team headed for a BCS Bowl. The only problem is that they're a Big Ten team. That's okay, though. If the Fiesta Bowl leadership decides that there's no other Big 12 team worthy of an entrance into their bowl, Iowa might get the nod. So long as they can win out against Ohio State and Minnesota to end the regular season, they ought to be okay. Then again, that's easier said than done.
Texas - The Longhorns look as though they are poised to win the Big 12, even if they lose one of their remaining games. If they do lose one of their remaining games against either Baylor, Kansas or Texas A&M, it might throw Texas out of BCS Title Game contention and back into the running for the Fiesta Bowl, in which case they'll be in Arizona this January rather than Pasadena.
Boise State - The Fiesta Bowl will probably get to pick one participant from the field, and Boise State makes a good selection, especially if the Broncos finish the year undefeated. Right now Boise State, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, is a perfect 9-0 and ranked in the top 10 of the BCS. Boise State must win against Idaho, Utah State, Nevada and New Mexico State.
TCU - TCU finds itself in much the same position as Boise State, both undefeated teams from a conference without a clear path to a BCS Bowl. The clear front-runner from the Mountain West Conference, TCU must finish undefeated to find its way, via the bowl's decision making committee. The Horned Frogs need to win out versus Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico.
Other Possibilities - Nebraska and Texas Tech are two of the better teams from the Big 12, and they'd make intriguing picks to play in the Bowl. Of course, they'll both have to win out the rest of the regular season, and they'd probably need lots of help from the members of their conference ahead of them. They'd need Texas to collapse and some of the other undefeated teams to hit the skids, as well, opening up spots in the top 10 of the BCS rankings.
