you're right! However, in the Philippines it is brought to a whole other level. Superstition is a way of life for the Filipinos. If you are planning a life with Filipina girls you are going to have to live with the superstitions that she possesses.

Filipina girls actually believe and spend a lot of time analyzing and overcoming what they see as potential curses! The men usually do not get involved in this sort of practice - they have bigger problems to solve in the world than superstitions. Never walk on a crack it will break your mother's back.

Don't kill ants in the house as they are a sign of a happy family.

Have your house or car blessed by a priest to keep away evil spirits.

Do not sweep the house at night or you could lose a blessing.

The first morning urine will cure pink eye.

If you are pregnant and eat bananas you'll have twins.

Never discard rice without saying "Porya Gaba" or you will lose all your money.

Another subject you might want to be aware of is numerology and dream interpretations. Numbers are everywhere - your birthday, social security numbers, license plate numbers, serial numbers, telephone numbers, driver's license numbers and ID numbers - the list goes on and on. Why approach that subject? Because in the Philippines (and the rest of the world) there is a lot of gambling.
